Time Saving Cooking

I love meals that you can cook one day and use part (or all) the next day to cut your cooking time. It's not that I don't have the time to cook every night. I just sometimes like a little break. I also will make extra to put in the freezer and just take out and thaw for those days I might be busy.

Using a slow cooker makes it easier to cook more with little effort. If you don't have all day to cook or don't feel like standing in the kitchen for a hour, when you get home, use a slow cooker. These will save time, money and a bit a sanity if you have kids.

I have started using the collection of cookbooks at the library. Since I have started to reduce the clutter in my house the cookbooks were taking up space for just a few recipes I wanted to use. I have started keeping my cookbook online such as my blog because I can access them from anywhere. And if you have a printer or scanner you can copy the pages from the book if you don't have the time to manual enter the recipes into the computer. You can get a three ring binder to put the pages in, just remember to put them in those plastic covers to keep the sticky off the paper. At least with the covers you can wipe them off.

You can also save time cooking by cooking for an entire week on Sunday (or any day you have time). Rachael Ray made it popular with the "Week in a Day" show. It really is a great way to have those "I don't want to cook" days. In our case we freeze them. We can either plan a meal from there or thaw when we get home.

You can go so far as to cook once a month. If this is something you are willing to spend an entire day doing there is a website for you.  http://OnceaMonthMom.com
It includes traditional menus, diet menus and even gluten/dairy free menus. It is a subscription service so keep that in mind. You could even pick up the Cook: Once a Week, Eat Well Every Day.... cookbook. Remember check your local library to see if they have it.

There is also tons of printable sheets on the Internet. Below is some links that might help.

Or just do a search of "Printable Menu Planners"
